30/82: December 14th @ DET

This is the definition of a trap game.

Final Score: Leafs 2, Red Wings 4

The Leafs finished with 25 shots. I’m not sure how they remedy this, but it’s becoming a trend of games with less than 30 shots and that’s not how this team is going to get wins.

It was nice to see them kill off all three Detroit penalties but the offense is lacking something and it cost the team a winnable game.

They still lead the Atlantic division. They’re tied with Florida in points but have one more game remaining.

Two goals from Detroit’s blue liners provided the difference. As well, the final 20 minutes only saw four shots from Toronto. That’s not the way to close out a game against a team that is struggling.

Question for the Red Wings: Can Detroit string together some momentum after a notable division win like this one? The team’s been largely underperforming the past few years and it should be time for them to make some noise.

The Leafs get back to it today against Buffalo. 5pm puck drop.
