West Coast Eagles 4.11 (35) vs. Sydney Swans 24.19 (163)
Alright. So, that final score almost seems insulting to the Eagles. And no, I don’t mean the musical group or the 2025 NFL Champions. After losing a clos ga to the Hawthorn Hawks and then having a full bye week, Sydney played like they were taking their frustratons out on the hapless Eagles. Charlie Curnow and Isaac Heeney each kicked four goals for the Swans, easily outscoring the entire opposition themselves.
Color scheme aside, the Swans are looking like a front-runner for me to support. The season’s still early, though!
Western Bulldogs 14.15 (99) vs. Essendon Bombers 9.11 (65)
I was lowkey hoping for a massive upset here, which would have given the Bombers their first win on the young season and the Bulldogs their first loss. Aaron Naughton and Sam Darcy both scored 3.3 for the Bulldogs.
Jade Gresham did kick three goals in defeat, though. Essendon’s a young team that should only improve as the season goes on. There’s nowhere to go but up from the bottom! As well, the Richmond Tigers also lost again so both teams remain in search of their first win of 2026.
